Shasta(AE-6: dp. 13,000; 1. 459& 39;; b. 63& 39;; dr. 23& 39;, s. 15.5 k.cpl. 281; a. 1 5& 34;, 4 3& 34;)The first Shasta (AE-6), an ammunition ship, was laid down under Maritime Commission contract (MC hull 125) on 12 August 1940 by the Tampa Shipbuilding Company, Tampa, Fla., initially as a C2 type cargo ship.
